Menlo Park has a number of very distinct neighborhoods, varying in price and character.

On the west side of El Camino is the Allied Arts area near a 1920's art center. These homes were built mostly in the 1930's and 1940's. Many have been fixed up quite a bit. Lots will usually be a bit deeper than typical for Palo Alto. Prices can range from mid $500's to the high $900's to several million for a redone home. Many streets have nice trees. This neighborhood abuts a creek and is near the toney Stanford Shopping Center. Draeger's Market is very upscale and very nice.
Santa Cruz Avenue is the main shopping street of a 1940's -50's town and has a pleasant old-fashioned feel. Nearby West Menlo is home to large ranch-style homes from the 1940's through 1960's. Lots can be up to 1/4 acre and homes in the 2000-3000 square feet range are more common here. Prices will be in the $950,000-2,500,000 range.
The Willows is a neighborhood is east of Middlefield Road. There are small cottages from the 20's and 30's, ranch homes from the 50's and homes with a variety of updating. Prices range from around $575,000 to the high $800's for a very charming updated and/or expanded home, but most prices have been in the $750,000 range lately. There are several other Menlo Park neighborhoods with a variety of price ranges, including the area around Hedge and Bay Road, where prices can be in the $500's.
