Los Altos

Los Altos is contiguous and to the south and west of Mountain View. Prices are more expensive. North Los Altos lots tend to be larger than in Palo Alto, with 1/4 acre parcels being quite common. The homes themselves tend to be larger also.

Los Altos also has several distinct neighborhoods. The more recently developed ones are in the south, and contain largish ranch-style homes on good-sized lots. There is also a woodsy area west of Foothill Expressway with some rustic older homes and some pricey developer-built or updated ones.

Los Altos has traditionally been an upscale suburb for executives from South Bay firms. Younger families are beginning to move into the area.
